Residential Locksmith Clarkson – Jason Door Lock Upgrade
A homeowner in Clarkson required a residential locksmith to upgrade a faulty Jason door lock that was originally fitted with an older MK2 mortice lock body. The existing lock had become unreliable, which is a common issue with this model over time.
Evolution Lock Service attended the property and carried out a lock upgrade, retrofitting a newer MK3 mortice lock body to improve reliability and long-term performance.
Lock Issue Identified
The original Jason MK2 mortice lock is known within the industry to develop problems, including:
- Inconsistent locking and unlocking
- Wear in internal components
- Reduced reliability over time
- Potential security concerns if failure occurs
For this client, replacing the lock with an updated version was the most practical and cost-effective solution.
Solution – MK3 Mortice Lock Upgrade
The newer MK3 mortice lock body was installed as a retrofit solution, allowing the existing door hardware to be upgraded without requiring a full door replacement.
Benefits of the MK3 upgrade include:
- Improved internal mechanism design
- Greater long-term reliability
- Smoother locking operation
- Better overall performance compared to the MK2 model
This type of upgrade is a common residential locksmith job in Clarkson and across Perth northern suburbs, particularly for homes fitted with older sliding or security door systems.
Why Upgrade Older Mortice Locks
Upgrading from older lock models is often recommended when:
- The lock is becoming unreliable
- Keys are difficult to turn
- The lock mechanism feels loose or worn
- The model has a known history of faults
A proactive upgrade helps avoid future lockouts and improves home security.
